Scars

I see your scars

Marks upon your skin
Wounds upon your soul
Bruises on your heart
Can turn it hard and cold

Grief that overwhelms
Desires left unmet
Mistakes you can’t take back
The burden of regret

Hurts you have inflicted
Abuse you have received
Injustice done against you
Lies you have believed

I see your scars

I know the pain you carry
I was beaten, bruised and marred
Felt betrayal, grief, rejection
My body deeply scarred

Look upon my suffering
I endured it all for you
Come to Me, beloved child
I’m making all things new

Scars last just a season
But this truth you must know
They will forever fade away
Under heaven’s healing glow
